The Mint Room, Bristol
With a vibrant and picturesque backdrop, Mint Room Bristol takes centre stage in the city’s affluent enclave of Clifton. Appropriately located on Clifton Road, with a classic façade of large glass and arched wooden-frames opening into a slick, modern bar, the restaurant displays a theme of visual and cultural contrasts unwinding through rooms of robust exposed brickwork, offset by aubergine-red walls and off-white banquettes. An English, almost Gothic, interior is daringly augmented by big, sculptural Indian mirrors, and out-sized candle-lit Eastern lanterns add pools of warm natural light, lending a sense of exotic intimacy. Mint Room’s cooking is daringly different, high-end, with first-rate British ingredients brought to an enticing level of Indian flair by its Executive Chef Saravanan Nambirajan, who hails from a Michelin-rated background. Emphasising luxurious combinations, there’s a great sense of innovation here, drawing upon both traditional and modern Indian cuisine. Drinks and in particular, the cocktails here, are highly notable with service which is inviting and friendly for a highly engaging dining.
